The Tower of London

More than 888,000 ceramic poppies have been crafted and placed in the moat around the Tower of London to commemorate the centenary of the start of Word War 1

The beautiful Tower Bridge, not to be confused with the London Bridge

The Tower of  London was very tall and spooky. The room I liked the best was a room with lots of suits of armour. One of the spookiest stories about the Tower of London is a story about two princes who were locked in a tower by their uncle, Richard the Third. He was meant to be looking after them but they disappeared and some people think he killed them. He became the king.
The poppies around the tower aren't real but they do look real.
The soldier was very smart-looking. My favourite part of the uniform was his big fluffy hat.
Me, Edie, Mum, Dad, Stella and Auntie Becky all went to a café. Edie and I had Hula Hoops (they're a type of chippies) and the grown-ups had a drink.

We saw where Catherine Howard and Anne Boylen were beheaded. They were both two of KING HENRY V111's wives. There was the White Tower, filled with royal suits of armour. We went with another of our friends, Stella. Afterwards, we looked at the queue for the CROWN JEWELS. Unfortunately, it was too long so we decided that we would wait until November when we would be coming back and the queues would be shorter. :-( !!!
There was a wall near the White Tower and I climbed it. Della found the easiest way (the steps). I climbed right to the top but Della couldn't because the steps only went so far.

  1. Love reading your blog, girls. The Tower of London is such an interesting place to explore, isn't it? I'm sure you'll enjoy returning to see the crown jewels in November. Della, you're just like Auntie Susan. When we were travelling through England and Europe she always remembered what she had to eat at different places! xox

  5. More wonderful blogs! Thank you. Even though I was there, I LOVE reading the blogs and it brings back great memories for me. (That says more about my memory these days!). It's lovely that the girls will have these entries to read again when they're older... And the history lessons they're getting will likely be more memorable than anything they'll read in a book alone. xx
