Singapore

The old and the new - around Orchard Road

With Jean, Ros and Helen

Marina Bay Sands Hotel - amazing inside and out (we didn't stay there!)
Sampan ride on a canal inside the Marina Bay Sands Hotel

Amazing architecture. There's a pool on the 'ship' at the top of the Marina Sands Hotel. The beautiful 'lotus flower' building in the foreground is the ArtScience Museum

Chilling at the hotel
Chocolate fountain at The Line restaurant (Shangri La Hotel) - a highlight for the girls!

With our gracious hosts - Helen, Jean and Ros xxx

Downmarket from The Line but delicious nonetheless - wonton noodle soup and chicken rice near our hotel Less than $5 a head!

I loved catching up with our friends Helen, Ros, and Jean. Helen was the best guide that you could get! Me and Della loved the chocolate fountain at the restaurant, it was my favourite dessert that there was, and that is saying something because there were so many that you would not believe it! ( In case you are  wondering, the boat on top of the Marina Sands Hotel is not real!) The pool at our hotel was very relaxing. You will not believe this but the boat that we are rowing in the picture above is in the middle of a shopping mall!!! I bet nobody has been on one of them before! We have loved it in Singapore. We went to Singapore zoo, and it is every bit as good as people say. Della and me bought a toy orangutan each from there.

I thought that Singapore was awesome. My favourite part was definitely the food. It's probably the main thing in Singapore for me. Some ladies called Helen, Ros and Jean gave us a tour of Singapore. It was so fun! One of the restaurants we went to was very impressive. It had LOADS of food. My favourite food in that restaurant was a chocolate fountain. There were marshmallows and meringue to dip in the chocolate fountain. Outside the restaurant in a tree there were some adorable squirrels. They were so quick and jumpy. As soon as I tried to take a photo, they'd run away. There was also a hotel that had a big ship on top of it (the ship wasn't real). Ros bought me a souvenir from there.
Bye!
Della

Our flight from Melbourne to Singapore was pretty painless (although Edie says it was boring) and the girls enjoyed staying in a hotel for the first time (as far as we can remember). The pool at the hotel was a hit! It was also the girls' first taste of Asia. We were lucky to have friends (Helen - a pen pal of my Mum's from way back - plus Ros and Jean) there to show us around, including some of the best eating spots. Singapore does great food very, very well. The weather wasn't overwhelmingly hot which was good for sight-seeing. The architecture - both old and new - is pretty spectacular. We really enjoyed Singapore and particularly the company of our gracious and generous hosts.

PS You'll have noted our blogging is coming along slowly - due in part to being very busy being tourists and in part to internet access issues. We are gradually catching up. Next - Singapore Zoo!
