Singapore Zoo

The girls make friends with Django the snake

Brekky with the orangutans (and a couple of cheeky monkeys!)

Singapore Zoo was awesome. But I think it's a bit weird how there's a horse in a zoo. My favourite animal was the polar bear. It was so cute and funny! It clapped its hands when it wanted more food. My favourite ride was the elephant ride. At one point we got caught in the rain. I wish it wasn't raining and we had brought our bathers because there was a pool.

We caught a taxi to Singapore Zoo and went to the restaurant for brekkie. We had just started eating when some orangutans climbed down from the treetops and sat down on a porch. Everybody rushed over to have their picture taken with them. Me and Della bought a toy orangutan each. Then we had our picture taken with Django the snake. We watched the polar bear swim laps of his enclosure. He was very clever. When one of the zookeepers threw some bits of fish down to him, he jumped off the ice and ate it and then he swam back to iceberg and clapped his paws for more! When we went on the elephant ride, it took us 50 minutes to actually get on the elephant because the queue was so long! But it was worth it because the ride was AWESOME! The elephants were HUGE.

I haven't been to a zoo that doesn't make me feel a little sad but the animals at Singapore Zoo did seem to be well cared for and were just beautiful. The polar bear was my favourite too; amazing to be able to observe it both above and below the water and at very close range. The orangutans watched us eat our brekky then we watched them eat theirs. We spent a good few hours at the zoo and could have taken longer but had to get back to the hotel to repack and head to the airport for our night flight to London. Will have to get back to Singapore to see and do the things we missed this time, and of course to spend more time with our lovely friends - who we hope will visit us in Tassie soon!
