Santorini was spectacular. We took a ferry from Piraeus, near Athens, travelling all day on the huge boat. Coming into the volcanic caldera was incredible.
We stayed for five days in Oia, right at the top of the island. Breathtaking town of white and blue. You have to climb steps to get anywhere. Our accommodation was a cave house with a small terrace overlooking the caldera. We couldn't sit on the terrace before around noon - the combination of blazing sun and whitewashed walls was blinding. But it was a perfect in the late afternoon and evening.
We spent our days exploring the town, overeating, doing some shopping (the girls and I), and reading and writing on that lovely terrace.
